Minimum qualifications:
• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with metallurgy.
• Experience in a technical/engineering role in failure analysis, mechanical engineering/testing, design validation, product development or similar.
• Experience in Fracture Mechanics/Fractography, Mechanical Testing, Materials Engineering, Electron Microscopy, or Computed Tomography X-Ray.
Preferred qualifications:
• PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• Experience with scientific instruments or disciplines (e.g., Fracture Mechanics/Fractography, Finite Element Analysis, Mechanical Testing, Mechanical Design, Materials Engineering, Microfabrication, MEMS, Devices/Sensors, Electron Microscopy, or Computed Tomography X-Ray).
• Experience related to design or developing experimental automation, data analysis, or statistical analysis.
• Experience working in a production environment and working at multiple stages.
• Experience with MATLAB, Python, LabView, R, or CAD.
• Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

As a Reliability Engineer, you will play a key role in creating new consumer electronic products that meet a high bar for reliability and performance. You will work closely with the product management and design engineering teams to define standards, specify tests, and then supervise test execution and failure analysis. A broad engineering background and command of statistical methods will help to inform design of new products. Your strong interpersonal and communication skills will be key to ensuring adoption of your technical recommendations.

Responsibilities
• Investigate and identify root cause, and work to drive corrective actions with Product teams within Hardware and Google.
• Develop methods for analysis using in-house equipment to reduce cost and improve turnaround time of investigations.
• Help with system design and specify testing for product qualification.
• Work with partners, vendors, or internal teams to develop mechanical or material solutions for Product teams.
• Manage laboratory equipment.
